It really has turned out to be a "drop them right there" pig gun and a hell of a lot of fun at the range. I would never trust my son's life to a cheap piece of glass and I hope this is a lesson that he has learned when he has a son. I know their are people that think we are crazy because we spent more on a scope than the price of the rifle, but its well worth it on a gun that shoots accurately when you're after dangerous game. They make these guns a pleasure to use for hunting or range work when you're in you're late 40's and you're eyes just don't work that well with these mediocore military iron sights. I've looked at both the Burris and Leupold sccout scopes and you really can't go wrong with either on a military type bolt action.
